Robert Toll has engineered a unique process to transform photographs into intricately detailed steel and copper etchings. Each etching is attached to a heavy steel plate, which serves as the frame. These editions are limited to ten per image. The gangster etchings were recently shown in the Off Main Gallery and Media Rare Gallery in Bergamot Station in April 2003. The gangsters featured in these etchings were hired to work in Toll’s studio through a work program with the local jail. Toll has befriended quite a few of these gangsters over the past few years.
Robert Toll and Jay Brockman have collaborated on an edition of copper streetscape etchings. This is a limited edition of 55 was completed March 18, 2004. Only 10 are available for purchase. Most of the other etchings went to collectors who purchased art from Gallery Domingo during the first year in business. These are 4 x 5.75 inches and are framed on black illustration board ready to hang.
