Gallery Domingo and Councilmember Eric Garcetti present “Historical Portraits,” a multi-cultural art exhibition featuring the artwork of Elias Covarrubias Telles.
The Honorable Councilmember Eric Garcetti of
the 13th District of the Los Angeles City Council has invited Gallery
Domingo to present Historical Portraits, a
solo exhibition featuring the artwork of
Elias Covarrubias Telles. The one-month exhibition will be held in the
city council offices located at 3525 Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. The
artist’s reception will be held on Friday, January 16th from
6:30pm – 9pm. Joseph Bernardo, Community Organizer for Mr. Garcetti’s
office, is reaching out to local schools and youth programs to utilize
this unique art exhibition as an educational opportunity.
Historical Portraits
is a multi-cultural exhibition which
focuses on little-known historical figures of many origins from the
Mexican California era and other notable points in American history. The
artist, Elias C. Telles, is a Mexican-American from Montebello who has
lived his whole life in Southern California. Over the past three years,
Mr. Telles has sold over 350 paintings through the local Melrose Trading
Post, an art, antiques and collectibles market.
Many of these paintings encompass an
idealistic world where the various races of the world are equal and are
able to live and work together in harmony.
Mr. Telles’ signature primitive style
includes aging the paintings to make them look as if they were actually
painted many years ago. Mr. Telles is represented by Gallery Domingo and
his art can be found online at www.gallerydomingo.com/Eliasctelles.
Gallery Domingo is a “floating” gallery based on relationships and events, rather than the typical bricks and mortar approach.
