Three Gallery Domingo artists, three solo exhibitions.

This fall, Hollywood’s Gallery Domingo will present three solo exhibitions featuring artists

Joshua Elias, Carl Raymond Schmidt and Jay Brockman. The first exhibition of new oil

paintings by Joshua Elias, Just Visiting, opens on Saturday, September 18th, 2004 and

continues through September 30th.  Immediately following is Carl Raymond Schmidt’s

Split Vision, a showcase of acrylic paintings which opens on Saturday, October 2nd and

runs through Friday, October 15th.  Jay Brockman’s Streetscapes, featuring new acrylic

streetscape paintings, debuts on Saturday, November 6th ending on November 19th

Every artist has an opening reception on the first Saturday of their solo exhibition from

7pm to 10pm, and the gallery will be open Monday through Saturday from 1pm to 6pm,

or by appointment.  The gallery is located at 4823-33 West Pico Boulevard, which is one

block east of La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles on the north side of the street.

Joshua Elias: Just Visiting        Elias' abstract oil paintings are each filled with rich colors, contemplative forms and a good story.  This solo exhibition features his new series of long, sweeping, horizontal paintings, including his first five-piece work entitled, Rumors.  This Los Angeles based artist has been featured recently in Angeleno Magazine, Interior Design Magazine and California Home and Design.  The Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica, CA commissioned the artist to create the double-sided abstract painting which is hanging in

their lobby.

Carl Raymond Schmidt:  Split Vision   This exhibition presents a selection of the artists large “split-vision style” paintings which he has been painting since 1999.  The viewer can see the development in this unique style from the earliest to most recent works.  The colors are bright and the mood changes depending on the individual painting.  There is an urban undertone to Schmidt’s work, which can be attributed to the artist’s current and former residencies, Chicago and Los Angeles, respectively.  He has also been featured in, “The Encyclopedia of Living Artists (8th edition, 12th edition, Back Cover)”.

Jay Brockman:  Streetscapes      Jay Brockman’s popular sunset streetscape paintings are

the finale for Gallery Domingo’s triple-header series of solo painting exhibitions.  This

exhibition highlights new works in the artist’s signature style of brightly contrasted sky and

stark black streets peppered with lights, palm trees and billboards. Brockman’s streetscape paintings were recently featured at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in the Rental and Sales Gallery’s Show 5.

Gallery Domingo is a “roaming” gallery based on relationships and events, rather than the typical bricks and mortar approach.  For more information about these events or the gallery, please contact Kim Leerdam, Director of Gallery Domingo (323.363.1012, kim@gallerydomingo.com) or visit the website at www.gallerydomingo.com/3solo.
